Solutions by Species

Prairie Dogs

While they may seem cute, prairie dogs pose unique challenges for property owners.

Prairie dogs have been shown to carry a flea that carries the bubonic plague, and their burrowing habits can lead to extensive damage, including:

  • Compromising structural integrity
  • Posing tripping hazards
  • Harm to livestock, including broken limbs due to stepping in holes or on destabilized ground
  • Damage to equipment

Controlling these issues requires a humane approach that considers both property and wildlife. Implementing exclusion techniques, such as fencing, can deter prairie dogs, while habitat modification, repellents, and other mitigation techniques provide additional solutions.

Collaborative efforts with neighboring properties are essential, as prairie dog populations may persist if not addressed collectively. Our team specializes in addressing these concerns, ensuring a safe, eco-friendly resolution for both homeowners and wildlife.

Gophers

Gophers, though small, can wreak havoc on properties, prompting the need for swift and effective removal.

These burrowing rodents pose risks to lawns, gardens, and crops, causing aesthetic damage and compromising plant health. Their extensive tunnel systems lead to soil erosion and create hazardous conditions, increasing the likelihood of tripping accidents. Property owners may witness diminished agricultural yields and landscaping woes due to gopher activity.

Our wildlife exclusion experts specialize in humane solutions to mitigate gopher-related issues, preserving the integrity of your property. Our treatments are both pet-safe and conscientious, ensuring a responsible resolution to gopher problems.

Bats

Bats, often protected species, require specialized expertise for humane removal and exclusion. We are NWCOA certified to handle these situations, ensuring compliance with regulations.

While essential for ecosystems, bats can pose health risks to humans:

  • Their droppings (guano) can carry diseases
  • Their presence in attics or crawl spaces increases the risk of histoplasmosis, an infection caused by a fungus that thrives in bat droppings.

Our wildlife exclusion services prioritize both public safety and bat conservation. We implement ethical removal methods, securing properties without harming these beneficial creatures. Trust us to navigate the complexities of bat removal and exclusion with certified expertise.

Skunks

Skunks, although striking in their appearance, carry risks such as rabies transmission and the release of a stinky, long-lasting spray which impacts people and pets alike. Property owners face potential damage to landscapes and structures due to skunk burrowing habits.

Humane and discreet removal of skunks can help keep balance in your neighborhood, especially in states like Colorado where relocation is restricted. Our certified team excels in ethical skunk removal and exclusion, prioritizing the safety and comfort of residents and pets.  We ensure a swift and humane resolution, adhering to local regulations.

Raccoons

Raccoons, known by some as the “trash panda,” can pose serious risks to people and pets. For example:

  • They may carry diseases such as rabies
  • They are known to inflict harm when cornered
  • Their penchant for scavenging leads to property damage and potential pet confrontations.

Our expert team specializes in swift and humane raccoon removal, particularly in states where relocation is restricted. We employ efficient removal methods that comply with local regulations. With training and experience, we ensure a rapid, yet compassionate, resolution to raccoon issues, safeguarding your property and the people and pets who live there.

Birds

Bird control focuses on humane exclusion and deterrence rather than removal. For example, woodpeckers can be deterred by sealing their holes with sheet metal painted to match the surface, preventing further damage. Reflective visual deterrents are also effective, as the light disrupts their behavior. By implementing these exclusion techniques, we help protect your property without harming the birds.

Other Wildlife

We specialize in removing and excluding wildlife larger than a mouse and smaller than a bobcat. If you have questions about rattlesnakes, badgers, marmots, and beyond, reach out to us to learn more and receive a free quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you use poisons? Are these poisons a danger to my pet or other wildlife?

We utilize carbon monoxide to safely remove nuisance animals by causing asphyxiation, eliminating the risk of secondary poisoning that may occur with other methods.

We use a PERC machine (stands for Pressurized Exhaust Rodent Control), which is a state of the art device designed to pump carbon monoxide into burrow systems. This method, in addition to being safe, is also a humane and pain-free approach to dispatch targeted rodents.

Are you able to relocate the species I need help with?

Relocation of wildlife is species-dependent and location-dependent. Each state has its own regulations about whether certain wildlife can be removed from a property.

For example, in Colorado, skunks are not allowed to be relocated, but must be treated on the premises and removed, but some other species may be able to be removed with special permitting.

Bats, however, are federally protected, and cannot be killed unless providing a direct threat to the safety of humans or severe property damage (which, believe it or not, even one small bat can cause massive damage). So no matter the state, we would look at relocation and exclusion solutions.

We stay up-to-date on Four-Corners states’ laws and regulations to ensure our solutions comply with current legislation.

How can I prevent nuisance species from returning to my property or home?

The strategy of “wildlife exclusion” is the preventive solution to avoid wildlife issues recurring in your home, in your building, or on your property. Sealing cracks and entrances, creating fencing, and installing deterrent features are some methods regularly used.

It may be necessary to encourage neighboring property owners to also adopt preventative measures, especially concerning prairie dogs and gophers.

How much time does it take to implement your solutions?

Although we’d love to provide a guarantee on timeframe, each solution is customized to your particular wildlife issue, and is determined by:

  • the species being addressed
  • the property, home, or building being affected
  • the solution selected, whether treatment, removal, relocation, or exclusion

We do, however, ensure a quick response time to your request, and prompt kick-off of agreed-upon solutions.
